Cassandra Nina Tribe was born October 5, 1968, in Poughkeepsie, New York. She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1989. After graduating Tribe worked as the Creative Director for Tantalus, Inc., developing Multi-Player Games and GUI interfaces for the Internet. She worked with the ASCII Corporation to develop multi-user interfaces for libraries and the then new concept of on-line shopping.

In 1992, Tribe left civilian life to join the military and served as an MP with the 8th US Army in Korea. She received an honorable discharge after three years of service in Korea and became a member of the International Brotherhood of Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Ironworkers.

While traveling the United States as an Ironworker, Tribe pursued her M.Div., and additional degrees in Sociology, Social Work, Civil Engineering and Cultural Anthropology.

In 2001, Tribe returned to her art with the release of her first CD, The Garden of Lost Things (castledeep records). Tribe was nicknamed "the architect of the soul" for her performance by reviewers. The CD went on to be nominated for the 2003 Just Plain Folks People's Choice Award for Spoken Word.

In 2006, Tribe released her second cd, The House of Weddings, to critical acclaim. Her second cd explored the nature of commitment, in faith, through community, and in love.

2008 brought Angel and the greedy heart, a simultaneous cd and book release. Both were unique departures from her studio sound with their focus on a more traditional performance of poetry.

Distributed by Sony, itunes, Virgin Records, Amazon.com, and Tower Records, Tribe's recordings have been known throughout Europe, Australia and Asia since 2002. The 2007 addition of Walmart.com to her list of distributors has dramatically increased her American exposure. That same year, Tribe also began the daily blog, Love and Words, which has won awards for its content and style.

Recognized as one of the top performance poets of our times, Tribe continues to explore and reveal the world through her writing, recordings, and videos.

Cassandra Tribe is currently traveling the country.
